SBEM is Building design software, linked to Building Regulations and stands for Simplified Building Energy Model. It’s a requirement that any new Building or a major Refurbishment project meets a certain ‘energy rating’ and they do this by entering design criteria into software. There are a few different types of software which Engineers can use to achieve this but SBEM is regarded as the most common and best known.
The SBEM software tool is currently used to determine CO2 emission rates for new buildings in compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations (England and Wales) and equivalent regulations in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Jersey. It is also used to generate Energy Performance Certificates for non-domestic buildings on construction and at the point of sale or rent.
We created a clear overview on how to introduce correctly our product range. Please have a look at the SBEM Guidance Sheet and SBEM Data Sheet.
