The Ecodesign Directive provides consistent EU-wide rules for improving the environmental performance of energy-related products (ErPs). The Directive sets out minimum mandatory requirements for the energy efficiency of these products.
The Energy Labelling Directive complements and works in conjunction with Ecodesign. Heaters and boilers with an output of minimum 70 kW will require an energy label, as well as water heaters and storage tanks with an output of minimum 70 kW and capacity of minimum 500 litres.
