Lochinvar and Leo Lynch Deliver Sustainable Water Heating Solution for Oxfordshire Medical Research and Manufacturing Facility
Lochinvar has partnered with leading mechanical and electrical engineering contractor Leo Lynch to deliver a highly efficient and sustainable domestic hot water (DHW) solution for a cutting-edge vaccine research and manufacturing facility in Oxfordshire. This project aligns with the client’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while ensuring a reliable and energy-efficient hot water supply for critical operations.
Project Objectives
The primary goal was to implement a future-proof DHW system that seamlessly integrates with the facility’s existing infrastructure while supporting its long-term decarbonisation strategy. By working closely with Leo Lynch, Lochinvar delivered a solution that not only meets the high demands of a research and manufacturing environment but also contributes to the UK’s broader net-zero ambitions.
Key considerations for the project included:
- Energy efficiency – Maximising thermal performance to reduce energy consumption.
- Reliability – Ensuring a consistent hot water supply for essential operations.
- Sustainability – Minimising environmental impact and lowering carbon emissions.
Leveraging Lochinvar’s industry-leading expertise, Leo Lynch was able to integrate a solution that optimises energy use, lowers operational costs, and significantly reduces carbon footprint.
The Solution: Lochinvar’s Amicus AquaStore
To meet the project’s sustainability and efficiency goals, Leo Lynch selected nine of Lochinvar’s multi-award-winning Amicus AquaStore heat pump water heater as the core of the DHW system. This decision was driven by:
- Proven performance – Exceptional thermal efficiency and high energy utilisation.
- Sustainable technology – Converts latent heat into usable energy for water heating, significantly reducing emissions.
- Adaptability – Capable of operating efficiently even in demanding environments.
The installation includes nine Amicus AquaStore units, providing hot water for safety showers, the canteen, washrooms, and research areas. With its advanced design, the AquaStore ensures maximum energy efficiency while significantly lowering carbon emissions compared to traditional heating methods.
During a site visit, Paul Firch, Project Director at Leo Lynch, praised Lochinvar’s expertise:
“Lochinvar was specified for this project due to their innovative approach to hot water technology. Working directly with their team has been a pleasure, and we are extremely pleased with the performance of the AquaStore units so far.”
Driving Sustainability in Research & Manufacturing
By integrating Lochinvar’s Amicus AquaStore, Leo Lynch and Lochinvar have delivered a high-performance, sustainable DHW solution that aligns with the facility’s environmental goals. This project demonstrates the power of strategic collaboration in advancing energy-efficient solutions that support both industry needs and the UK’s carbon reduction targets.
