Introduction

Belle Vue School in Dudley recently underwent a refurbishment project to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its domestic hot water system. As part of the upgrade, the school sought a modern, low-carbon solution to replace its existing water heater and align with Dudley Council’s sustainability goals.

Objectives

The primary objective was to replace an outdated competitor 20kW non-condensing water heater, with a more efficient and environmentally responsible alternative. The school wanted to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining reliable hot water performance for staff and students.

This retrofit project was undertaken in collaboration with Jackwolf Group, who managed the installation and commissioning. The team required a system that offered straightforward installation, dependable operation, and long-term cost savings — all while contributing to the wider decarbonisation of the school’s facilities.

The installers, Jackwolf Group reported that the installation process was straightforward, with the system integrating smoothly into the school’s existing services. The system was commissioned by Corporate Landlord Services part of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. The new heat pump water heater now delivers reliable hot water while significantly reducing energy consumption and associated carbon emissions compared to the previous gas-fired system.
